Portable vs Stationary Air Compressors

This is one of the primary distinctions between different air compressors. Stationary air compressors are obviously designed not to be moved but are constructed so as to be a permanent fixture in the workshop. All of them have very large air tanks and their motors tend to be much more powerful than their portable brethren. Consequently, their prices are much higher than portable models. Portable air compressors on the other hand, vary in portability but they are all designed with handles, often integrated as part of  a protective 'roll' cage, and some even have wheels, although the quality of the wheels themsleves can vary.
